Program Description:
"Suddenly I realized for myself the fresh breeze that rises up when the great burden is laid down." Fayan
A meditation retreat is a time we deepen and refresh ourselves through intensive spiritual practice. A retreat includes sitting and walking meditation, dharma talks and a koan seminar, private meetings with the teacher, yoga and chanting, work practice, vegetarian meals, and free time for wandering. Most of it is silent. Though the forms of the retreat are grounded in traditions inherited from East Asia, we've evolved ways of practice that are more natural for many Americans. Some previous experience with meditation is helpful. Awakened Life emphasizes companionship on the way, inquiry and openheartedness, and the confluence of koans and creativity. Enlightenment as a conspiracy of friends.
